Hiji Jime is an elbow lock, sometimes classified as Nikyo in certain schools. It resembles Nikajo in the relative positions of uke and nage, the difference being the pressure applied is now on the elbow. Assuming uke has secured a right hand hold on nage's lapel or shirt, nage

distracts uke by feigning a blow with his right hand. Immediately, nage slides that same hand over uke's palm and twists it to face upwards. Simultaneously, nage slides his left elbow over uke's right elbow, which is now trapped under tremendous pressure.
