Kaiten Nage translates directly into 'open and turn'.
This technique channels uke's motion of attack into a dynamic extension forward and then reverses its stream back to his rear in a large circle. Uke's body will be bent forward after being led circularly by nage. Uke's arm closest to nage's body

will be swept to his rear and upwards, and then forward again from above and down in a full dynamic reversal launching him ahead. Nage adds to this momentum by using his other hand to push uke's head down. This creates a windmill effect, causing uke to land on the mat.
